FREETH s ' m d this sea* La&i son a ' tho purebred ' ®WRj£6}iP'ydesdale Colt Konlrow Jock By Renfrew Jock, dam Queeu Bess, rising threa years, was bred by Georgo Watson Esq., Masterton, and is a beautiful bay and stands 16 hands high with immense power. Ho is compactly built with plenty of liair and bone of tho right olean lint kind with plenty of cilky hair on his legs, growing in tho right place, hanging straight from the kneoto the ground. His Biro Renfrew Jock, imported from Victoria as a four-year-old stood seventeen hands high, was out of Rose by Cowden Lad (imp) who gained six Ist prizes brfore leaving Scotland and many Ist prizes in Victoria. Cowden Lad's sire was Old Scotchman, the property of Mr John Kerr Mot ton, dam Mr Eastin'a (of Cowdon) young prize mare Jean, by Prince Eoyal, g.d. Blossom by Ben Lomond (imp). Renfrew Jock's sire was the well known horse Renfrew (imp), who gained two first prizes as a year-old, 2 firsts as a two year old. When three years ho competed at tho Renfrewshire Exhibition of Stallions held at Paisley against all horses, and was awarded tho Duke of Hamilton's premium of 30 sovs. He gained tho Champion Cup at Ballarat on the 13th September 1802, and has beaten every horso that has competed against him. Renfrew Jock gained first prize at Smeatou as a yearling and first as a two year-old at tho samo place. In 1874 ho was imported to Hew Zealand and was placed second against all comers at Oaniaru Show. In 1875 he roverscd the order and was placed first in the aged elass, and took the Champion Cup for the best entiro on tho ground. This performanco ho repeated in 1870. In 1879 ho was first and champion at Timarn, Alter that ho was sold to tho Geraldino Stud Company. His dam, Queen Bess, tho property of G, Walssn, Esq., is by that noted sire No Surrender, 1?7 N.U.B. No Surrender is by that great stallion, King of tho Vanquisher, -by Young Vanquisher (imp.)' When No Surrender was last shown ho was awarded' the Hon, Rhodes' prize, 15 guineas, at Timaru, and also the limaru'A. &P, prize of 5 guineas same day, beating both colonial and imported horses, His naino and famo has ken ringing all over the Southern Hemisphere for tho half cozen years, andon one occasion lie swcpteverythiDgfrom Duncdin to Christchurch, and it would be useless to cspatiato on his career,or lo mention his success at the stud, and to note the lamons gets that have sprung from him would be superfluous Queen Bess' dam is that popular Clydesdalo mare Julia, the pro perty of Aid. Dalgleish, Esq., Oamaru, sirs Scotland Yet, grand siro frinco of Wales imported from Scotland, dam Grey Gipsy, imported. In 1888, at Oamaru, Julia was third as a dry maro in aiing of eight splendid marea, and in 1890 she gained second in another large ring of really nice mares l the pick of tho wlule Oamaru district, this being the noted district in the whole Can* torbury Provinco for Clydesdalo slock, She also was awardedon the samo day tho A.&P. Society's first prize as a mare, and two of her progeny. Queen Bess is an oicellent model cf a Clydesdale marc. She commenced her premier career as a yearling by taking first prize at Oamaru in a ring of 7 first class fillies, when shown as a iwo-year-old she also gained tho red ticket at tho same place, she was also awarded first at Timaru and first at Waimate shows. Thus showing Renfrew Jock to be descended from tho test Clydesdalo blood in the vorld, and also from tho greatest line of prize takers under the sun, tlicso strains nave'been especially selected Jor the breeding qualities by tho most successful breeders in the Mother Country, m well as the Colonics, that judgment has been fully verified. Thus showing Renfrew Jock to be the most fashionably bred stallion that has ever been placed at tho disposal of breeders in this district, and breeders should not miss such a welcome horse. No bottor stallion stands iu New Zealand, and his pedigree is unexceptional. He has beautiful action, an excellent temper, anda strong sound constitution, Renfrew Jock* took first prizo as a yearling, and also first as a two year-old against the pick of tho South Island.' He wii! be'limited to 25 mares. Every care taken but no responsibility, Terms, £4. payable on let January, 18U5. : JOHN MAXWELL, Proprietor, Homebush,
