Messrs Ohatnberlain Brof Flour Mill. '
The present is assuredly an ageof progress, and every day BeeßSome new thing invented by whioh labor is lightened and. the methods' 1 of production are remodelled and im-
proved. To keep pace with the times and to avoid being leftlagging behind, the enterprising competitor in the commercial struggle, must, in many instances, discard old methods to keep well in the van. _ One of the most enterprising and flourishing industries in this district, is the large ilour-milling business so successfully conducted by Messrs G. E. Chamberlain and E.E. Chanu
berlain, and tho products of Messr, Chamberlain Bros. Masterton SM Flour Mills have -long ag^j^B
far more * thaii* a Always to the during tlio past few years,' nSutiWp veiy extensive alterations and im- '■■'<'' provenientß in their plant,'and now havo just fitted up tlio latest American patent roller machinery, in the shape of a complete " Improved Cornelius Internal Roller Mill." The
machine is designed to reduce the wheat berry as nearly as possible'io bran and flour in one operation, and hy so d»ing avoid the scouring to which the partly finished bran is subject to in ordinary roller milling and which is acknowleged by all millers to be so detrimental. The process is known as" short-milling and is very far ahead of the " longmilling" system. The machinery at Messrs Chamberlain Bros.' mill has now been in running order for some days, and is found to do its work veiy faithfully, as may be judged from the fact that experts pronounce samples of the flour from the Masterton Steam Flour Mills, to be quite equal to tho best ruby dust produced by_ eminont South Island firms. This is very satisfactory, and Messrs Chamberlain Bros, certainly deservo support for their enterprise, and for the large outlay they haverecently made, so that their customers may be suplied with " the very best." A word as to the general management of the mill will not bo out of place. First, everything is of the best and most approved description. Then again, the greatest regard is paid to thorough cleanliness in every department; and last, but by no meansleast, athoroughlyexperienced and capable staff of millers is employed to cany on tho industry. So that if flour-milling conducted on straight-forward honest lines can be made a profitable business, it will be at once recognised that Messrs Chamberlain Bros, aro on the right track,' and we congratulate them.
