Inward and outward correspondence was read, after which the Chairman brought forward that relating to a petition of settlers re the Mount Baker Road.—Decided to leave the matter over until after dealing with tenders. The Council decided to reply to Mr G, Mooro that the Engineer would see that the funds in that part bo expended for the general good of all settlers. EXTRAS FOI! COXTIIACT. It was decided to inform Messrs Kennedy & Co. that no extras would he granted farther than the L2O recommended by the Alfredton Road Board. MIOI'ERTY VAI.CATIOX. The application of Mr J. Kelly foi a reduction of his valuation, on the motion of Cr Cockburn-Hood, seconded by Mv Guild, was referred back, as a new valuation would shortly he struck, when ho would be able to be bring the matter forward. KATKS. It was decided that the information asked re rates, by Mr Wingate, could not be given unless certain boundaries were specified. TRAXSFEIt. The Council recommended that the Clerk bo instructed to inform Mr U. Reilly that tho transfer of H. Bennett's section, Parkville, to F. Bright, caunot be granted on his application alone. SURVEYOR. The Clerk was instructed to employ a survoyor re the deviation of the Tinui-Pori road. ROAD UESEIIVE. The application of Mr G. Townsend, senr., for a leaso of the road reserve at the Taucru, was held over, Tho application from Mr J, Boutill next meeting, information n same lIOAD BLOCKAGE. John Davis wrote informing tho Council that tho road through Mr V. Lee's property had been closed, thereby causing a considerable amount of inconvenience to himself and tho settlers—The Council de-

cided to writo to the Lands Department and ascertain whether it was a legal road, before moving in the matter. HATES 'I'KANSEEII. Tho Qleik was instructed to make tlio necessary alteration re the transfer of tho property of Mr Hugh Jackson to Messrs Butement and Hansen. BOUNDARY FENCING. It was resolved that the Clerk ho instructed to write to tho Castlepoint Road Hoard informing them that the Council approves of thoir action in the matter relating to Mr J. G. Johnston re removal of fence. FINANCE. The report of the Financo meeting wag'read and thoaccounts passed for payment confirmed. ENGINEER'S RETORT. The Engineer's report was read, GRAVEL liOXt'S, The Council was of opinion that ' ,' the recommondation of tho Eketahtiua Road Board re offering a bonus of &10 out of loan for tho discovery of a suitable gravel pit on the Mangaone Valley Road, bo complied with ' it it could he done under the Public ,■' Works Act; if not they could gitint '■■'.., it out of tlie general revenue,

Resolved that the Clerk writo to the Castlcpoint Road Hoard, asking whether the Hoard is prepared to subsidise the Riding Fund this year, and if so to what amount. Tlio Council then rose,
