Paiiiatua, Monday
At a meeting held at Ngaturi on Saturday evening, arrangements were made for the formal opening of the Tiraumea bridge at an early date, The Premier, Mr. Hogg,, and one or two members of the Ministry are expected to be present. A meeting of the County Council was held on Saturday, all members being present. Tho louder of Mr J. Dawson was accepted for tho erection of the bridgo over the Mangabao river, at Sinclair's crossing. The remainder of the business was unimportant. A man named Alfred Fonder residing at Makairo, met with an accident ou Friday, he was straining a fence when the strainer parted, and the wire recoiled and struck him in the eye; Dr. Gault recommended his removal to the Wellington Hospital, the eyo being permanently injured. A horse attached to Mr Whitcombe's trap on Saturday afternoon bolted, two little children in the trap were thrown out, and the eldest considerably knocked about. The younger one escaped unhurt, The supply of milk to Cook and Co.'s factories is increasing rapidly,' the Central Factory at Pahiatua is expected to open this week, tho creameries at Hawera, Kaitawa, and Woodvillc open in about a fortnight, The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company's factory at Ballance is' expected to be ready to receive milk about the middle of November,
