FOOTBALL.
[By Damocles.] The majority of the Wairarapa representative team went to Wellington yesterday afternoon, and the stragglers, including D'Arey, Gray, Hansen, and the two Wrigleys, left by this morning's train. Up till late last evening, D'Arcy (the skipper of the team) had not obtained the necessary leave, and the hearts of enthusiasts went down considerably, as he is certainly the mainstay of the team. However, leave was obtained. Every man chosen by the Wairarapa Union will take his place on the lield this afternoon, and should give agood account of themselves. Tho Masterton Club colors will be worn, Wellington's being black. Mr Laurenson, who gave such satisfaction in the New South Walcs-Wairarapa match, has been appointed referee by the N.Z. Union, The result will bo posted in the shop windows this evening.
AH the New South Wales footballers have returned to Sydney, Surman, who Auckland, was enterlalVil by his friends at a banquet on Wsday evening.
