It is believed that the horse stumbled and foil with the deceased, who was weak from the effects of influenza, and unable to get up, Deceased was greatly res- ' pcoted by tho settlers. He is well i known in tho Hutt district. Last ovening tho Catholic Social i took place in thoPahiatua Public i Hall. There was a very largo atten- ' dance, and tho hall, though recently greatly enlarged, was unablo to i accommodate all the visitors, Vocal- : ists from Patea, Danevirke, and Greytown assisted, Miss Gallughor coming from the latter place. Tho wholo affair was a great success Tho receipts go towards the building fund.
