Own Correspondent). 1W Footballer's Annual Ball, held'on Friday night last in.the ■ Hall was a financial success, Had the weather beon finer, there is no doubt the ball would have been better attended. No pains were spared to provide refreshments, and the supper passed off exceedingly V well, Messrs Raleigh and J, Owen decorated the hall most tastefully. Some mischievously inclined person is wantonly laying poison in the district, and several valuable dogs have been destroyed. If the culprit is discovered he deserves tho full penalty of thoJaw. Dogs are not only liable {Attraction, but children run grcaFrisks, as they might pick a bit up and eat it. Constable is looking out for the culprit. • In the wet weather one was afraid - of being bogged on the road at Geange's Corner, in the fine one runs great risks of breaking his neck over the ridges of dry mud. Surely the Council can dosometbing -■ - to mitigato what has beon anuisance ■ to pedestrians for two or three years, Dawson, the medical man appointed for the district by tlio Committee is expected to arrive in Wellington on Wednesday. A Committee has been appointed to receive him in Tenui. The gentleman comes from the north of England. The .Government Life Insuranco Agent from Wellington has been canvassing tho district with marked success. Ho was accompanied by Dr Teare, who had a good experience of our Tenui roads.
