FEATHERSTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent), Thursday. Tho election of soven Commissioners for tho Town Board took place yesterday, Mr W. Bock being Returning Officer, and Mr 0. KentJohnston scrutineer. As tlie day was a nasty cold and bleak ono, there were not so many votes polled as there would bave been otherwise; yet 94 personß voted, and as eight of theso had two votes each, it was equal to 102 having voted, The result of the poll was as follows Charles Cundy 85 James Donald 84 Alex, McKonzie 83 J. G. Cox 80 "W. Benton 57 W. H. Nicols 56 W. Hoddcr, junr. ... 53 H, 0, Stefterfc 48 M.B.Tait 39 A, Urquhart 31 E. J. Searl 12 Informal 2 Therefore, the first seven were declared duly elected, and as it was raining and dark at tho time the poll was declared, there was not many of the candidates present, but Mr Steffert, who was there, thanked all those who had supported him, As to Mr Searl's twelve votes, I might stato that as he did not give the notice for withdrawal, as re. quired by tho Act, his name was not taken off the voting paper; but he had a man stationed at the door of the booth distributing circulars to the effect that he had withdrawn,
