WEDDINGS AT MASTERTON.
: St. Matthew's Churcbj''Mastert6u, |wns crowded this morning, when Mr ;W.. Clement Cargill, proprietor of tho Wairarapa Star, aud Miss Emily Nicol, second daughter of Mr James Nicol,one of Masterton's oldest set-'i tiers, wore united in matrimony, the ceremony being performed by the Rev. A. ( V, Grace, sf Groytown. Many visitors were present from .other parts of the Colony, and great 'interest was evinced in the proceed- 1 togs.
: The bride wasdrcssed most becomingly iu fawn silk poplinetlo, with 'silk lace and ribbons to match, the train lined with electric blue velvet, fawn hat with feathers, and olectric blue trimmings. The lady looked exceedingly well, and carrieda handsome bouquet of white heather and catnelias, and wore a costly gold brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Tho chief bridesmaid, Miss Nellie NicoV of Marton, was attired jn a dress of cremo hopsac,trimmed with cremo lace, liat to match, trimmed with pansics,and carrying a bouquet of pansies and violets. Tho Misses IvyandNettieHoopcr too pretty dresses of heliotropo crepon and swansdown, creme silk hats,trimmed with heliotrope ribbons, white silk shoes, and carriedbaskets of flowers. All the' bridosinaids wore gold brooches, also tho gift of the bridegroom, Mi's Jas. Nicol, mother of the bride, was dressed in blacksatin, with jet trimminEtß, and.boiinetof black jet and vieux rose flowers. Among the. numerous guests were MrsHulmo, of Queensland, ina light gi;ey dress, with black moire trim* mings, and:black lace hat to match; Mra J. R, Nicol(of Greytown),; mii dark heliotrope;dress -of Bhot sUh; | Mrs V.. Hoopeivin address : of pale 'green shot,' with' heJiotropStrim. mings,- : and bonnet to match; and Miss Barrett attired in green diagonal. Mr 0. A.
