A lodgo of Oddfellows lias been formed at Mangalninokn, Little or 110 interest is being taken to-day in the Borough election of ► one Councillor for each Ward. Mr Keoghan for the East Ward, Mr Sullivan for the West Ward have been retumod unopposed, Mr Crowe was nominated for tho East Ward but withdrew from the contest, In the South Ward there is a contest between Mr W. W. Mc> Cardie, Junr,, and ;Mr A,.: W, Sedcole. : Tho Mangatainoka Bridge qucs- ' tion haying been practically settled, there is really no burning' topic before the ratepayers,, hence the indifference. Additions aro to bo rande shortly to the Mangatainoka School. Though there is a good deal of building going on here, there is quite an extraordinary number of unemployed carpenters about, tho reason for which is found in the fact that outside contractors who. have y>4aken contracts have brought their own men, Other unemployed are 'alßO.numerouß, buslifellingcontracts * 'are'sloW ill coming out, ; and felliiig is already about a month behind tho usual time, : V .
