SECOND EDITION. Wairarapa Daily Times. [ESTABLISHED 1874] SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1894
We have always supported the police of this town in their efforts to keep the liquor traffic within due bounds, bat we must express our, surprise that Sergt, McArdle should have gone out of his way yesterday to east a slur on the character of tho Club Hotel This house is frequented by the most reputable people who visit Mastcrton, and who 'reside in Masterton; and for a responsible official stigmatizo it as resorted to by objectionablo persons, seems to us to bo a gratuitous and uncalled insult to all the decent and orderly citizens of the community. We trust wo may class ourselves amongst these and say on tlioir behalf that while they are strongly opposed to ill-conducted houses, they consider that Hotels that arc admittedly well-ordered, should be protected from the calumnious reports of indiscreet policemen.
