His sire Renfrew Jock, imported irom Victoria as a four-year-old stood seventeen hands high, was out of Rose by Cowden Lad (imp) who gained six Ist prizes brfore leaving Scotland and many Ist prizes in Victoria. Cowden Lad's sire was Old Scotchman, the property of Mr John Kerr Mo'ton, dam Mr Eastin's (ot Cowden) young prizo mare Jean, by Princ2 Royal, g.ii, Blossom by Bcii Lomond (imp). Renfrew Jock's sire was the well known horse Henlrew (imp), who gained'two first piizes as a year-old, 2 lusts as a two year old. When three yows he compoted at the Renfrewshire Exhibition of Stallions held at Paisley againßt all horseß, and was awarded the Duke of Hamilton's premium of 30 Suva, lie gained the Champion Cup at Ballarat on the 13th September 18C2, and has beaten every horse that has coropetod against him. Renfrew Jock gained first prize at Sraeaton a3 a yearling and first as a two year-old at the samo place. In 1874 ho was imported to How Zealand and was placed second against all coniora at Oamaru Show. In I 1875 he rovorsed the order and was placed first in the aged class, ritd took the Champion Cup for tho best entire on tbo ground. This performance ho repeated in 1876. In 1879 he was first and champion at Timaru, After that he was sold to tho Geraldine Stud Company, His dam, Queon Bess, the property of G. Watson, Esq., is by that noted sire No Surrender, 107 N.Z.13. No Surrender is by that great stallion, King of tho Vanquisher, by Youog Vanquisher (imp.) When No Surrender was last shown howai awarded the Hon, Rhodes' prize, 15 guineas, at Timaru, and also the Timaru A. &P. prizo of 6 guineas snmeday, beating both colonial and imported lioreos.
