GREYTOWN NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent,) Friday, The plain and fancy dress Hall, in connection with the Grcytowu Brass Band, held in the Palace Hall last nitrht, was not so largely attended as was anticipated, possibly through the inclemency of the weather or scarcity of ready cash, The Hall was nicely decorated for the occasion, a number of willing hands having arranged everything us far as possible for comfort and convenience. The music was supplied by Professor Dcoley (violin), Professor Morton (piano), Mr J. Maguire, junr. (cornet), Mr J, Fuller, junr (euphonium), and Mr M, li, Varnham (double bass).

The refreshment table was laden with all kinds of delicacies, and was under the charge of Messrs H. Duff, 11. 11, Wood (sec), Dunn, Haigh, McMaster, Fisher, Mcsdnmes Ticchurst, Dunn, and Waldcn, Miss Ingram, also Messrs Clayton, Fillis, and McAlpinc. Mr 11. Wood deserves much credit for the way in which he worked the affair up, doing all in his power to ensure the enjoyment of thoso present. The fancy costumes were: Miss Judd, "Bed Hiding Hood"; Miss Hastings "Buttercup" Miss JL Maguire, " Good Luck"; Miss C. Maguire, "Indian Squaw"; Mr Fred.Hawkej "Pirate"; J.Adams, "Paddy"; Mrs Lister, "Night"; Mr 11. Gant, "Little Buttercup"; Jlrs Hume," Azorncina "; Mr Clayton, " Undo Sam"; Mr Kea, " Bar : rister"; MrF. Wood, "George III."; | Mr J, Kent, "Pirate." Several sailor costumes were also worn.

Two young fellows rede to Mas-1 terton from here Inst Saturday night, I arriving in Jfasterton rather late. When entering the town-it being ycry dark-they pulled their horses up to prevent riding into three or four persons, who were walking along the road. One of the horsemen was suddenly pulled off his horse and violently thrown to tho ground, one of his feet hanging in the stirrup. He was slightly injured and barely escaped having his neck broken. The other young fellow received a nasty blow on the head cutting a holo in bis hard felt hat, about two inches in length.
