EDUCATION BOARD.
At yesterday's' meeting of the Wellington Education Hoard, the following amongst other business was transacted
Mr Young moved, according to notice, that tho services of Miss Reese should be retained at the Pahiatua School. She had been very popular with the children, and lio thought the Board might allow her six or eight months in which to obtain the necessary certificates, The motion lapsed for wantofaseconder. Mrs Larson was appointed sowing teacher at the Mangafuahoe School, and it was resolved to admit Miss Barnard as a probationer at Kaiwai? wai for three months, Tho appointment of Mr D. Wardlaw as teacher at the 'Drcycrton School was approved. A grant of L 5 was mado for separate offices at Ngaturi, and plans were obtained to be prepared fur additions at Mangatainoka, A grant was also made for repairs to the, fencing at Matarawa, Tho chairman was empowered to accept the lowest tondcr for tho West Taratalii School.
Tho Secretary was requested to call for fresh applications for an assistant teacher at Pahiatua.
It was resolved to cxpond a sum not exceeding £ls in repairing the tho teacher's residence at Drcycrton. The appointments of Mr Dempsey to the Hastwell school, and of Miss Levy to the Mangaone school were confirmed. Miss Franklin, Muricovillo school, was granted thrco months' leave of absence without salary. Tho resignation, of Mr J. E, Stewart (Mangamahoe) was accepted, It was notified that Mr J. P, Dakin, Masterton, had accepted an appointment at Napier, and it was resolved to advertise tho vacancy.
