A VIOLENT MANIFESTO.

Out in Western Queensland there is no mincing of words in the manifestoes of discontent which are being circulated far and wide ovorthe face of the countr;.-. "The Tree of Liberty," one of the latest of these manifestoes announces, " hears fruit only when manured with tlio hones of fat usurers, insolent despots, perfidious politicians, and blacklegs generally.' 1 , The pcoplo arc counselled to put no trust in Parliaments, which are represented as being composed of " committees of opulent robbers aud polished thieves, oratorical prostitutes, and abject hirelings." "If squatters oppress you," the documents procuds, "plant rack-o-rock for their bin/gies, also lire low and lay them out. If Shylocks of the bloody city lleece you, make their homes desolate. If politicians betray your hopes and sell you for i'ocman's gold, split open their hearts. ... Study the science of death. Use bullets, steel, melinite, kerosene, phosphorus, lircsticks, torpedoes, lithofractcur, poison, bombshells blasting powder—any weapon you can get hold of. Tlicro is no honour in warfare." Furthermore this mes'sage, to which the scoundrclism or utter idiocy which conceived and executed it has attached the imprint of a Sydney daily journal, urges them to " think like heroes, steal like Spartans, lie like hell," and, /tbove everything, miss no safe opportunity fo "blast'to blazes all human tigers.''— kxehmge.
