WAIRARAPA HUNT CLUB BALL.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

As was' anticipated, the Annual Ball in connection with the Hunt Club hold in the Palace Hall, Greytown, last night proved a most brilliant affair. The Hall was tastefully decorated with nikau palms, flax, clusters of native cabbage, and other evergreens, and pictures of" Hunts" in the old land and a few photos of "meets" held in the district, graced the walls, the whole giving quite a charming and imposing appearnnco to the room. Tho Masterton String Band wero arranged on a raised platform at one end of the room and the music provided was undoubtedly of the best. Mr Mc.Kenzio(secretary),andMr Harold ; Welch desorvo great credit for the way in which they worked, being ably assisted by Messrs (.{ill, Tully, Roake, H. 0. Tully, and H. Wood. The ladies and all who so liberally provided refreshments, need commendation. The M.C.'s—Messrs H. S. Izard, P. H. Wood, Bright, and MeKenzic—carried out their duties to the satisfaction of all. There wore about 150 couples present and I refrain from mentioning the dresses worn as most of the company looked charming. There was not a great number in the galleries. Possibly the 2s 6d charge caused the scarcity. The supper lablo was under the supervision of Mr and Mrs Arthur Jones, and a large staff of assistants and the tables were laid out in tiptop fashion and looked splendid, Everyone appeared to onjoy themselves, and tho company was a large and representative one,
