ATTEMPTED BURGLARY AT A BANK.
The Manager's Keys Stolen. (By Telegraph.—Press Association), Daxevihke, Friday. A sensational attempted burglary at the Bank of New South Wales 'took place last night. Mr Downes, teller, left the Bank at 8 o'clock, and returned at ten, and on entering his Jjedrfjom at the back of the building, heard some one moving in the room. A inasked man then rushed on hiiu arid attempted to smother him in a blanket, Mr Downs evaded tho man (fnd ran into, fho street and gave the alarm, The police and others soon arrived, but the man had decamped, leaving behind him a dark lantern, a mask, a heavy bludgeon, liishat and an empty bag. Mr Hogg, Manager of the Bank, sleeps at an hotel, and left his room for a brief space of lirao. This morning ho found that in-Jiis absenco his room had beou enteiM and his keys taken from his cluo has yet been obtained,
