The Masterton circle of tho A.H.R.U. will meet this evening. j Mr A. W.Cavo has been again reelected President of the MastertonOpaki Jockey Club, and Mr E. H, Waddington, Secretary. Most of the other office bearers were re-elocted. We remind those interested of the i meeting to be held at the Empire Hotel this evening, to discuss the proposal to take over and alter tho Masterton Theatre Royal. Stakes amounting to £023 were given nttho Opaki last year. Twelve new members were elected by the Masterton-Opaki Jockey Club last night. Mr F. Mauusell, of Tcnui, has, wo arc pleased to learn, recovered from his recent severe illness.
Last year supporters of the Opaki race meetings, contributed £6B 9s Cd towards the revenue as totalisator tax.
