THE REVOLT IN FIJI.

Auckuxd, Wednesday. Fijian news states that all tlio prisoners charged with being concerned in the revolt in Fiji were convicted of murder. Several natives bad been murdered and their bodies offered in sacrifice to heathen gods. No evidence was called for tlio defence, their contention being that there was a want of identification, and the impossibility of the witnesses ill their state of fright and flight recognising tlio men with blackened faces in tho dark, and at least CO feet away. Each assessor gave his opinion ' that tho prisoners were guilty, ■ The lad Calepii, apparently about 13 years of age, confessed that; lie smeared Smakinsa after lie had been speared by another. Sentonce of death was passtidon each individually. On the tentji iiist, Quaranivalau and Masureni were executed. Both men were thoroughly resigned and acknowledged tbe justice of their fate. Tho sentences of tho other wore commut'edasfollows: Sauivane and Navaketau to 20 years, and Oaleou and Nivara totenycars penal servitude, ■;
