Tub Hon, Mr Ward answered an allegation of the Wellington Evening Press in the House because he considered that the integrity of a Minister of the Crown was at stake. This is right enough, but why does not the Hon. Mr Seddon take the same course with regard to the Wellington Evening fost. That .journal has virtually accused the Premier of lying and has even advanced proof of its indictment.' But where is the personal explanation of the Premier, where, in his case, is the vindication of the integrity of a Minister of the Crown? Mr Ward lias cleared himself in men's eyes as far as his reputation is concerned, but it must boa discomfort to him to sit under a chief who allows a foul stigma to rest against him.
