FEATHERSTON NOTES.

Saturday. There is a deal of influenza about just now, and owing to so many being laid up who were going to assist iu the Church of England social on Tuesday next, it has been decided to postpone it for a while, Last week Mr Harrison, of Martinborongli, discovered some moa bones in a cave out at Stony Creek, Tlioy aro evidently those of a female bird and a young one, for amongst the collection is small skull top and part of the leg whore the claws joined. The bones of the big bird are a large hip bone and a bone to which tho claws have been attached. Last evening tho Fcathcrston | Quadrille Assembly started their | series of assemblies. There was a | very fair attendance and they promise to become very popular. Mr Card, the new licensee of the Empire Hotel, is still laid lip in Wellington with influenza and he will not be ablo to come up for some days now. Spring seems to have started wo hope to geta spellof tinoweather now, for with all the rain that we have had tho ground is like ill sponge,
. I have been requested to call the attention of the railway authorities )to certain places on the side footpath to the station which aro in a very dangerous stato,
