Monthly Meeting, • The usual monthly meeting, of the.TownLandsTmst-ees was,.held last evening. Present Messrs. W; Lowes (Chairman), A, H. Vile, C.E, Daniell, B. Feist. •' , , '.■■■■ MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ' ; TREASURER'S REPORT, The. Clerk read the Treasurer) Reportwhich sliowedacredit balance of, General fund £155 9s 6d nnd Scholarship fund £153 15s 4d. .....CORRESMSDEKCE.; ■ A letter was read froiri the Volunteer Fire Brigade asking for a grant of £ls. A letter was also read frqm the Municipal Fire Brigade applying for a loan for the purpose of ironing the roof. VKXCIXG. A 'letter was read from Mr E, Dixon, stating that Mr, D.. Dixon, his neighbour, had taken no notice of the resolution of the Trusses; requesting: him (Mr D, Dixon) to' erect a dividing fence. Mr ' David .Dixon waitcd' pn l the Trustees and: explained that lie had complied with tho' conditions' of tli'e lease, which provided that'he, the tenant, should ci-eefca dividiflg-fenco. and keep existing fences in : repiir. The real dispute was tlmt tho otliqr party wished .him to, erect a'higliboard fence. • : ;^ The Chairman moved that .the Clerk should see that the conditions of the lease had been earned out arid that further, than; this nothing should be done by the' Trustees.— Carried. : ;V : v; • . Mr Daniell seconded the motion, which was carried,' .'
Tho application for a- grant from the Municipal Fire. Brigade was then dealt with.

Tho Chairman moved, that! the application be acknowledged] and that jreply bo sent to the effect that -the' Trustees, did. notsee'their way to inake the grant, on account of tho lack of funds; Mr Daniell seconded the motion which,was carried. BIIIW, HAM; . A letter was read from Mr 0, A, Pownall with reference to the proposed purchase by the Trustees of the Town' Drill Hall. The Chairman moved, That tho Chairman be empowered to givo instructions to the Trustees' solicitor to prepare tho necessary documents for the purchase of tho Drill Hall. —Carried. : . ACCOUNTS. •, \ Accounts amounting to & 31.10s were passed for payment. ; ■ I'ROOKKSS, CERTIFICATE'. A letter was read from Mr G. K. Bond re tho -progress made in the contracts in Dixon Street, and forwarding certificates of progress in the contracts named. - .'',. ! ';■;.'.-"'.' TOH'xmriw '. : . • Mr Vilo stated that he desired to hold over his motion n the Town Hall until the Drill Hall question was decided. He considered that the one question had a direct bearing on tho other. Permission was accordingly granted to Mr Vile to hold back his motion.. ; fc.-y,; : muskum. ' ; Mr: Brown wrote asking that a grant of money should bo given to the museum on which he, personally, had spont.moneyi himself. ;He also asked that an application of Mr Jacobs to get thework ofmaking cases for the specimens should be granted. The Trustees having inspected the museum, the aplicationofMrßrown for a; grant, was considered. " Mr Daniell proposed a grant of £lO. He considered that this would be fair seeing that Mr Brown had made payments. •,,,
: Tho Chairman suggested that tho matter of a grant should be-, held over, as tho museum was practically private property. He advised Mr. Brown to call it mooting .'of ratepayers to hand tho museum over to the Borough Council, after which tho grant could bo considered,
