FEATHERSTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent). Thursday. At a meeting of the Vestry held on Monday evening the following resolutions were passed: " That 25 lists be obtained with printed headings, and each vestryman do his utmost to get subscriptions towards building a new church. That £2O bo added to tho amount already deposited in the Bunk for the purpose of building a now church. That the church wardens for the time being shall open a new account at tho Bank of O, for tho £2O and the £SO which is at 5 per cent deposit. That a financial committee be formed of the whole Vestry, to meet on Tuesday next at 8 p.m, to ascertain the approximate incomo for the current year towards the stipend, and to advise the members what amount they could promise the Synod for that purpose. That some sort of an entertainment be held monthly during tho winter mouths, with a view of bringing the church people more together. That the first performance be held on the 14th inst. Messrs 1). H, Robertson and A, Knowles undertook to carry out the h'rst entertainment.

'flic usual monthly mooting of tho School Conunitto was held Inst evening. All the Committee men were present. The minutes of the previous mooting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported a credit bnlnuccof £8 Is lOd. Accounts amounting to £3 17s 6d wore passed for payment. Correspondence was received from the Education Board, re the carriage fees of trees for Arbor Day on the railways, also including a cheque for £7 14s capitation grant for the quarter ended. The visitors report was satisfactory, and Messrs Toogood and W. fry were appointed visitors for. the ensuing month. The Head-master's report was satisfactory, and showed 216 on the roll; attendance was not very good at present, owing to much sickness about. This being all the business the meeting terminated.

There was not much observation of Arbor Day yesterday.at Featherston, excepting that some private individuals bad a littlo Arbor Day of their own, in their own gardens,
