Wednesday, The ballast gaug havo completed the ballasting of the. line between hero and Maugamahoe, and have gone to Mnsterton. I understand that the Bank of New Zealand is going to remove their office, which isat present at Mr I Nicholson's shop, to the Oddfellows' Hall,
There was very heavy rain here last night and this morning, hut the weather has cleared up again this afternoon. Tho Settlers' Ball takes place to-night (Wednesday) in Elliston's Hall. The Kkctahuna Band has heen engaged to play. Tho affair' promises to ho a grand success,
