The ordinary meetiugof the Mauriceville Itoad Board was held on Saturday, the 28 th day of July; Present—Messrs C; Forsberg (Chairman), C. Tait, J. • F, Heckler, autl P. Glceson. ' i Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspond; enceoutward. : : : A letter was read from a'nnmbor of settlers on Mount Bruce lioad requesting that rangers may bo instructed not to impound stock straying on the road, —lt was decided to grant the request, but Oiily to exempt the road from the operations of the rangers till tho Ist of April next, thus giving the settlers time to fence,. . .
Mr A. Hansen rate asking that the Board get the bush felled on gravel reserve situated on Mount Mnnro lioad East—lt was pointed out that notliing can be done until tlio reserve is vested in the Board, and the Clerk was instructed to bring tlio matter under tlio notice of tho Commissioner. i
Mr Brooke's request for n road to be formed leading to his property was left in tho hands of the Chairman to bo dealt with. ;
In connection with.thc Government grant of £3OO, for Ihuraua Valley Road, the Assistant Surveyor-General wrote desiring to bo informed when ho might expect to have tho plans and specifications for this road suWttcd to him for his approval.
A communication was . received froni Mr Martin Kennedy, desiring tho Board to apply to tho Minister of Lands for an increased subsidy- for Ihuraua Yalloy lioad, on the. ground that'when opened throughout it will bo no mere local road! but must in time bccomo a-, maiu; trunk road for a largo extent of coiwt'ry, He urged that if possible a deputation from tlio Board should at once interview tho Minister 6n the subject. The agreement made with the Ekctaliuna Board, re adjustmcntof accounts in connection with the lato alterations in the boundaries of the road districts, was completed; uuder the arrangements now made, tho Eketahuna Board will pay over a sum of £24 Is lid.
The Board formally agreed to the proposed deviation in Maugarai, on Dagg's road,
It was decided, to' allow Messrs O'Kcefo and Jenkins extra iimo to complete their contract on Bowcn's fioad, and to allow Messrs Larseu and Co. to substitute metalling for fascining oil their contract. Mr D, M. Brooke's tender, for the purchase of stock of limestone on the Mauricevillc South road, was accepted. Three tenders were received for maintaining Dreyer's Hock Eoad, but none were accepted. Cheques Amounting- to £lB7 9s lOd were passed.for payment. A special meeting of the Board will ho held on Saturday, tho 4th August, at 1 p.m., to confirm a special order,
