Tub Hon. Mr Ward's break-down as a Colonial Treasurer, is a grave misfortune for tho Colony! He has been'wont to talk about "a : strong finance," till people helioved that he was a strong financier., Now he has had to rake in the taxes of the Colony fom- months in advanco to avert a catastrophe. Tho Government finance may now bo considered played out, for Ministers themselves' have owned up to 'their deplorable position: The Party has a majority left, and this is all that remains to it now that its financial credit has departed. Something reckless will no doubt be done with the majority, but the future prospects of the colony are gloomy indeed.
