The frightful gale lasted till the 20th, AVhcn 150 miles south of the Three Kings, she shipped a fearful sea, and the vessel completely disappeared, nothing being visible except only the tops of the deck-houses, mid the floating deck-load. The vessel was buried in the trough of the- sea, and the jibboom was out of sight. All hands took to the rigging, thinking tho vessel doomed. , The bulwarks wore kuocked oiit of her, to let the water escape and the lifeboat and life-belts wore got ready, as it was feared she might founder at any moment. The decks were swept continuously, everything moveable going overboard, and the crew were very exhausted.
