It is asserted that the Masterton Borough Council should he called upon to give its reasons for its dismissal of - its late manager, The Masterton Borough Council is responsible for making good gas in the town at a fair price, a responsibility in which it has hitherto failed' at a serious cost to : the ratepayers . of Mnstei'ton, hiit it has a perfect right |toemploy any manager it pleases, or dismiss any manager it likes without,
! giving reasons or explanations to the public. Wo, say the Council is responsible to the*, ratepayers, and i-Jf® realise imposition fiiytliisjrjfeepect, and neither; seek to ovado itnoivallow, others to sway-jit from doings its duty.' The Council lias been miserably weak in the past but we trust it will prove itself worthy of public confidence in the future.
