WB have good authority for stating that a numbor of Liberal M.H.R.'s are in favour of a loan of two millions being floated for expenditure over a term of four years to aid settlement and opening up of laud, The common sense of the Liberal party or at least of many members of it. leads to tho plain conclusion that bricks cannot be made without straw. Of course it is evident that acountryswarming with unemployed needs money, and money w ill have to bo found, Tlio sti-aigMfoiwil though okl-fashioncd way of bouwing it openly, is preferable to raising it by financial juggling, or by an issue of Governmentpapel l . That the money is wanted is beyond question, and any proposal to raise such a sum will meet with a great deal of support from politicians of al! sides.
