With a little enterprise a considerable number of unemployed could be profitably occupied in cutting up firewood on land adjacent to the line, and if a special train conveyed ut few hundred cords of it to town once a week, and burnt some of the wood itself as a motive power for carrying it along, a local industry could be promoted which Would be advantageous. to the interests of labour. • Why should not wood be burnt on railway crgincs instead of coal ? ; .
