Mr Darnell protested strongly against this system of accepting the lowest tender. Mr Vile replied that ho looked at the maltor from a business point of view not at its moral aspect. A man went into the work with his eyes open. If anyone put his hand into the fire he must expect to have it burnt.

Mr Daniell responded that some men must be saved from themselves. The Chairman observed that the custom of the Trustees in the past had been to accept tho lowest tender. Mr Daniell maintained that it was an improper course. But apart from that the applicant Alf Harison had not entered a formal tender, it not being accompanied by a deposit.
