MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD
Ordinary Meeting.
Tho ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, the 30th July, Present—Messrs C. Forsberg (Chairman), P, Gleeson, C. 'fait, J, F, Heckler 'and' J. Bannister.
The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed and correspondence outward. Correspondence inward from:— Audit Inspector, desiring Clerk to meet him in Masterton with Board's books; from Commissioner of Crown Lands, enclosing schedules of accrued thirds. It was decided that members attend at tho Board's ofliceon Monday, July 9fch, at 1 p.m., for tho purpose of considering and allotting the proposals for expenditure of accrued Thirds. Commissioner of Taxes wrote on-, closing declaration form ?u subsidy. Mr E. J. Rose wrote requesting that bush be foiled on Cleland's Road,—Mr Gleeson was appointed to get this dope, .
■ Mr D, M, Brooks wrotorequesting permission to remove two whares from the road reserve.—Permission granted, A legal opinion was received from the Board's solicitor, respecting the proposed improvements on tho Mauricevillc South Road,
The motion adopted at tho previous meeting striking a general rate of a |d in tho £ was confirmed. A special order, striking a special rale of 2 7-lGtlis of Id in tho £, for loan for Ihuraua Valley Road was passed.
The following tenders were re- , ceiveel for lining, etc, the oilico : ; 0. Petersen, £9 10s (accepted); J, . Naylor, £9lßs; C. K Daniell, £l2; G, Hanberg, £l2 10s, 1 The Clerk was instructed to "advertise the new proposal for loan for Dagg'sßoad, ' The minutes of the Conference! held on the 20th nit., for the prrpose of adjusting accounts with the Ekefahuna Board, were read and the action of the delegates approved, Mr Bannister was appointed to inspect culverts on H.Larsen & Co's contract, Mr H, C. Lawson interviewed the Board respecting the closing of a road leading from the Main road to his section $3, BlockXlY, Mangaone. He produced a memo from the Commissioner advising him to got the road closed under tho provisions of the Public Works Act. It was decided, after considering tho matter with Mr Lawson, .to take steps to close tho road. It -was resolved to invite tenders for tho purchase of the stack of limestone standing on the road near Limestone Quarry, The Board decided, after hearing the report of the members who had inspected Messrs Sowiy Bros contract on Mount Bruco Road, to pay tho balanco duo to the contractors, with the' exception of £B, and that the deposit be retained till tho work is finally inspected and passed, .•.*■:'*■ In futureUho meetings of tho Board will bo held at 11 aim, on tho lftßt Saturday-of each month., : '■'■ ".
