A peculiar libel , action lias been going on for days, iii whicli Miss Ann Wrigley, la to tpachcr of the Fairbuin road School, .Mongomii, 1 ; sues Mr fisher, chairniim of tlio School Committeo of that district, to recover £2OO daninges for an alleged libel which was contained iii certain letters sent by defendant to tlio Board, which ho claimed were privileged, Plaintiff, a .young-lady of about 25, was in the wit ness box.onSitturfor fully six hours, a greater part of which wns occupied in cross-exami-nation by Mr . Cotter. During the wholo time slio showed perfect selfpossession. : .. At Hie conclusion of- Iho caso today for the plaintiff, Mr Cotter moved for a nonsuit oil the ground of tlio Committee being a quasijudicnl body its communications to the Board were privileged. Mr Cotter quoted a number of authorities in support of his contention. Mr Campbell replied at some length. His Honor said he would he obliged to tell tlio jury there wns evidence of ninlice, and evidence upon which the jury would have to say or not that the statements were bom fide. He therefore refused to nonsuit plaintiff. Mr Cotter then opened tlio case for tlio defence. The Cnsc is likely to Inst some days.
