It will be news to our readorsto know that last year tin's colony imported from New South Wales, frco of duty, 8,363 lbs of bacon and 706 lbs.of ham, and 350 lbs bacon'from Victoria, whilo sovonty-six pounds weight of hams from England wcro imported and paid two ponce porlb duty. During the same year the colony exported 692 owt of bacon, and 975 cwt of hams. Of this quantity Victoria took 162 cwt of bacon and 21 owt of hams, and Now South Wales 152 cwt of bacon and 498 cwt'of hams, on which no' doubt a heavy duty was paid. It is interesting to knotr that wo rc-itnportcd our own produce from Australia in those particular commodities.
