MASTERTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

Adjourned Meeting. The adjourned annual mectinß of the Mastrrton Horticultural Society was hcid last evening, Mr P. Murray presiding, It was explained that the mccliughad been adjourned to permit tho rules being revised. Dr Butement was elected a member of tho Society, On the motion of Mr Chcnuells, Dr. Butement was elected a vice-president of tho Society, On tho. motion of Mr Gardner, Dr' Butement wns also voted into the chair. .Tlio recommendations of the Committce appointed to report on tho rules of the Society, with certain amendments were then read and adopted. Tho principal alterations wcro, that the Committee may, if they sco lit to do so, appoint a ladies coinmittee,and also that anyone r.-.ny be elocted a member of tho society, and that ho may pay his subscription within six months after joining. On tho motion of Mr W. Parkcr.it was decided to rescind the motion appointing tho committee A letter was road from tho Secretary, Mr Alpass, resigning his position of Secretary of the Society. On the motion of Mr A. Yilc, it was decided to accept the resignation with regret. On tho motion of Mr Papworth, seconded by Mr Ankctcll, Mr Thos. Gillespio was elected Secretary. Tho following gentlemen were elected members of the society;-Messrs W, Sitnnis, Thos. Gillespie, Gruschow, li, E. Hornblow, Hale, AV. Gillespie, H, Broom, A. Barrer and Collbtte, A ballot was then taken for the members of the Committee and resulted in election of tho following gentlemen:— Messrs Ankctoll, Murray, Parkor, Billington, Vile, Papworth, Collptto, Stone, Gardemr, Broom, Hale, Brunton, Bcrriman, tndW. Gillespie. Mr Murray moved that the motion passed appointing Mr Carpenter Tressurcr of the Socity bo rescinded.—Carried.

Mr Murray moved that Mr Carpenter bo re-appointed Treasurer-Carried, It was decided that tho Committee meet at that night week in a place to bo decided by the Secretary, in order to appoint a sub-committee to revise the catalogue of tho Society, After a voto of thanks had been passed to the chairman tho meeting adjourned.
