REBELLION AT SAMOA.
The King's Life Attempted. \ (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, Friday. ': News from Samoa.states that on the 3rd, an attempt was made by rebels to assassinate King Malietoa. Ho had attended a service in a Samoan house, but had loft bofore the arrival of a party of rebels, who poured a rifip volley into the hut, killing two men. They then fled, but wore pursued, and two of them shot dead. A small party of rebels entered the Municipality on June 14th, and destroyed the house of one leading chief after looting it. thoroughly. A party of troops left tointerceptthem, but there is little chance of doing so.
