Death Under Strange Circumstances.
(By Tolegraph Press Association) Napjkii, Wednesday, Mr H. Naphtali, who lias been in business here for some years, and prior to that was a, resident of Dunedin, died suddenly this morning.
At the inquest, the evidence showed tliatNaphtali went out about 9 o'clock this morning, returning soon afterwards and shutting hmisolf in a front room, - where there was a gas stove, About noon a smell of gas was observed, and when tlie room was opened Naphtali was found dead 011 the iloor, the gas-stove being turned full on, but not lighted, and the damper closed.
The post-mortem examination, however, showed that the heart ivas in a shockingly diseased state, and that death was due to that, accelerated by inhaling gas. A verdict to that effect was returned.
