FEATHERSTON NOTES.
I (From Our Own Correspondent), Winter has fairly started now, for nil yesterday ivc experienced a strong soil-wester with verjr heavy rain, by the afternoon the railway station was k surrounded'by water, and an impromtu bridge of planks had to be constructed for passengers to reach tho platform. Neejfcss to say most of thowater'tablesaraculverts want seeing to. To-day the wind is coming from the south-east, making it bit : ter cold. Jf this weather continues another 24 hours there is every pre ; lability of floods. ; The weather seems to affect the | passenger, traffic in tho trains, foi j - the down. train yesterday morning ' only contained seven passengers ano I this moraiDg'e oaly \
