DEATH AT MORRISON'S BUSH.

Inquest • (From Our Own Correspondent). Monday. Tho late Mr James Beard, who was i found dead on his farm at Morrison's Bush last Saturday, wa3 born at Stockport, England, in 1835. He came to New Zealand thirty-seven yours ago, and worked .about Wellington and the Hutt until '57, when ho came to Greytown, There he has remained as plumber and farmer until his decease.

The inquest was held at his late rcsidenco on Saturday afternoon, before Mr T. Hutchison, District Coroner, and ajjnry of six. Mr J. Hodge boing chosen foreman. Evidence was given by Dr, Bey, John Board (son of deceased), W. Valentine, A, Montgomery, and James Bodgers. That of the four latter proved that at eight o'clock on Friday morning last, deceased was in his usual good health, except for a slight cough. He went down the paddock to drive some sheep, and as he was not in to breakfnstn fruitless search was made. Mr Valentine subsequently went (o Greytown, but could not find him there. Ho returned and mado another search. At about eight o'clock in the eveniug he went to Greytown for John Beard, who went over. These two searched until eleven, o'clock, bat without success. . Shortly after half past seven on Saturday morning, John Beard funnel the body in a pool of water two feet in depth, Only .his feet were remaining out of the water. His arms were partly folded and his hands clenched. His eyes were shut and his lips slightly apart. Hisface was of a purple color. There wero no marks of violence.

Dr Bey deposed that he had made a post mortem examination of the body, and attributed death to apoplexy. He did not consider death was caused by drowning. He found a small clot of blood on tho brain, and thought deceased was standing by the water hole when he had a fit, Tho jury returned a verdict iu accordance with medical testimony,
