FEATHERSTON NOTES.
(From Oar Own Correspondent.) : • Saturday. Last ovening the usual fortnightly [Band of Hope entertainment took plnce, There was a fair audience both of young folks and adults. Sings, recitations, and dialogues were rendered by the following: MifsssM.. Laury, L, Koys, M, England, Mabel England, J3. Keys, and Betd, Messrs Hawkeu, Sussex, a.ut Koys. At the conclusion of the entertainment over SO pledges were signed.
I am sorry fc) have to record the passing away of one more of the old colonists, in the parson of Mrs (Jim*. Gundy, relict of the Into Mr Charles Onndy, who died yesterday afternoon at her residence, Revans street, at the good old age o( 88. Mr and Mrs Cundy came to ihe Ooloay in the ship DukH of iioxburgb in February 1840, and had resided in the VVairara|w over 36 years. The dnceased leaves five sous and four daughters all I comfortably and respectably settled in life, Mr W. Cundy, Chairman of oar Town Board, being the eldest son. The funeral is to take place to-morrow at 2 p.m.
The enquiry into the damaging of the W.U. Club's property is to take place this afternoon at Tauhorenikau, and there is every likelihood of a lively meeting,
