■ Monthly Mebting. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wairarapa North County Council wnß held in the County office. There were present: Crs F. voa Reaen (Chairman), C. E. Coi'kbum-Hood, J. Handyside, W, H. Beethom, Maunsell, D, Guild, Eli Smith, and Groves. MINUTES. INWARD CORREBPONDERCE. The following correspondence Waß dealt with:— MOUNT BAKED ROAD, . '.. Settlers wrote asking that the \\ penaltips be not enforced in oonnec-,., tion with non-fulfillment of on Nos. 1 and 2 road.—Befened to Comrmtt^Bj^^^H ~_S S U - ^^A#fc^ADP^^( ' An application from Mr' Saunders re Fori and Saunders road deviation was referred to the clerk to find out whether it ia a.proper road, INSPECTORS. ■ ' The roadmen of the Council were appointed inspectors under the traotion engine by laws, on the motion of tho Chairman, STRAY CATTLE, A letter was read from the Tenui roadman re horses and cattle straying on the roada. It was resolved to ask (he,constable to enforce the laws under the Police Offences Aot. TE ORE ORE ESTATE, The alteration on the valuation roll was ordered to be made in regard to above estute. r-OHIROAD. Application Irom W, J. Saunders' for permission to erect two gates on tho Pori Road, one on the Tiraumea bridge, another 'at the junction oi Saunders Bead,. Gnpper wrote giving notice of registration of trnolion engine, Tho Clerk was instructed to issue the necessary license. ALFREDTON SO.nOOL, ' • Mr Dunderdule, of Alfredton, applied for tbo Board room in place o£ the school room during the winter months on account ot the cold.—Re* , ferred to Mr Eli Smith with power to act, STRAT STOCK, f The Inspector of Police was re- • - quitted to give notice to his officers • to issue informations Bgainst owners t allowing stock to stray on tho road.
HASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL. A request was read from the Borough Council to allow the County Engineer to report on the Waipoua encroaohment. • The Chairman elated iha County Engineer had not time,, and on the motion of Mr' Cookburr.* Hood a reply was directed to be written to the Borough Council tothat effect. MILLER'S QUAItRY. , Cr Maunaell thought th^^tffl should lake over the grsj^|fl^^^| Messrs Elder under the In^r^H^H Aot, ■. -- After _ discussion it was deoided toadopt this course. ALFREDTON-WEBER ROAD. The Lands Department wrote informing the Council that two miles six chains of the Alfredton-Webef road was now ready for the Council to takeover. Cr Smith said it was time the Council took a stand against taking over any works until it was ascertained that the works were in good order. He would move that the Engineer examine the road 'before the Council take it over, The Chairman seconded and the motion was carried. TAUERU POUND. Mr H. Morrison wrote asking for a> refund of tho surplus over the sale of a oolt Irom the Taueru Pouud. Hesolved to inform Mr Morrison lhat anyclaim he might have was forfeited' ■ through lapse of time. FINANCE REPORT, I The Finance Committee report was read and adopted. - ['" ENGINEERS BEFOItT, The Eugineor's report was read., TB ORE ORE-BffiEFqiUl ROAD.. Cr Guild moved that tho acceptance l ' of tenders for tho TeOro Ore-Bideford mofallingbeloft in hand of the Engineer to deal with and to fix tho time for the work to be done.
GRAVEL PIT. After discussion it was decided to take a gravel pit on Messrs Laugdon Bros land under the Public Works Act if Messrs Langdou are notpre> pared to soil. COSIPENBATJOK. It was resolved on the motion of Ibe Chairman that in-allowance of an extra £d per yard be paid to Mr Harding for the metal taken from his: laud on the Alfredton Road, thai quantity of metal taken being considerably lees than at first anticipated!. PORI ROAD. Kesolved that the extra chain nn<* a half on the Pori Bond as mended be metalled. Cr Handysido said Mr A. W. There was now no accommodation hotfie, as he had extinguished the license, and although in the past he had permitted travellers to certain persons had made too ft'iy use of tho place, and he thcreforc/illowed accommodation to persons /avelling with stock only. ' After considerable discussion as to ■whether an accommodation house was needed or not, it was resolved on the ~ motion of Or Smith to ascertain the positiou of the Akiteo Ferry Eeservo. TIRAUJIEA ROAD, Cr Smith moved that the Engineer bo authorised to put the Tiraumea Road in order between Wsitawlnti and Mr Holmes Warren's.—Carried. Tho Council then rose,
