FEATHERSTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday.

To-night wo are to be visited by the World'* Fair Concert Phonograph and as the press speak very highly of it, I expect it will bo well patronised,

On Monday last the Town Board nenSinto Committee for over an hour, It has since transpired that the cause of Becreoy was owing lo an application for a alaoghter-hcuse license haying been made to the County Council by Mr A. Beale instead of to the Board. The slaughter- house has been passed inspector, and is the rei|^R? F 3istanee from the Town boundary, but the Board's feelings I •were wounded, and when tho resolu- ] tion was put, though three supported it against .the Chairman and another member, tHo Ohaifmnn refused to forward the resolution to the County Council, so another member of the Hoard has decided to do it.

I understand that trout poaohing in various ways is being carried on in the creeks in the vicinity, but as some of the raDgerß from the Acclimatization Society are about I hope to hear of offenders being caught.

In connection with the Town Board meetings I would like to suggest to 1 the Board tho advisability of having a fire, as the Board room is not particularly comfortable, and sitting in it from 7.80 p.m. till near 11.80 p.m. is rather cold work on winter nights,

The proceedings of the Town Board on Monday evening wero much enlivened by the many attempts on the part o! rwomplainant trying to get a word WJw the meeting, while they were in tho midst of the aecounts. Ho was ordered to be seated by the Chairman several times, and had even to be threatened with tho police, but would not bo seated till some one Beconded the Chairman's nolico for him to be seated, When ho was allowed to speak he certainly made up for lost time, as may well be judged by the fact of the meeting not feeing over till after eleven,
