ANOTHER ABSCONDER.

■>_ _ Tiharu, Monday, lib police have Ascertained that Best, the absconding grainbuyer, left the colony in the Ruapehu on the 19th ult, { The creditors of Best wero informod at a meeting-day that the Government will not takeft\ny steps to effect the arrest of the debtor unless all the costs of tho capture and return to Timaru, including extradition, if necessary, aro guaranteed by the creditors, The creditors were advised that this was too large an order, and that they should ask the Government to make a fixed sum, on the guarantee of which the Government would proceed. An enquiry was telegraphed to this effect, as the Ruapehu, on which steamer ho left Wellington, will reach Bio before anything can be dono. The creditors decided to offer a guarantee ot £IOO. If the Government do not accept this nothing more will be dono. The creditors thought it unfair that they should bo asked for costs at all, and two out of tho six present refused to sign the guarantee.
