NOTICE Dm^^^^^H Mr Stuokey's motion^flHiP a Parmer's Class in the next show catalogue, was allowed to stand over owing to bis non«attendance.' THE NEW SHOW GROUND. Mr J. McGregor said that in referring to the new show ground at last meeting be did notmean to move any direct motion but merely to discuss the matter. He had gone into the figures of their position, and found that they had £13117s lid oredit at the bank, their only asßet being the ground itself valued at £660 againßt which there was a debt of £IOO. It would tako about £I,OOO to put the new ground in order bringing their actual indebtnesa up to about-£1,200. under these oiroumslances he thought it inadvisable to incur so much liability, and ho should move the next show be hsld at MeßSra Lowes and lornß' yards.
Mr I, Sykes said if every one oftho Committee put their hands in their pockets and subscribed £,l towards the required improvements they would soon get further assistance, If they did" not make an effort they wouhl alwayß be in the i^^g/olfir~ f '^ Mr they were now in the same position as a year ago. They would be just the same ten years hence. He believed if they waited for funds they might continue waiting. He was in favor of issuing debentures - . Surely with suoh a district they sbould be able to do something. Mr Lett asked if £SOO would not do to expend on. the ground for a lime. Mr Hessey said he was of opinion that they should do the thing properly. If tbe £I,OOO were raised it would soon be remunerative, as they could let the ground to athletio societies, etc Mr D. J. Cameron said they were a new district comparatively, and it was the small holders who carried on the Society, It was no good attempting to do something they could not, and throwing up the old grounds, It would be better instead of trying to rival theWairarapa Show to endeavour to run the Maaterton Show on safe lines, It would be economy to carry on at Messrs Lowes and lorm' yards and let the new grounds. Mr Hessey did not wish it under-" stood that he Baid anything against Messrs Lowes anckiDrns' grounds. The Chairman said there was a deal of common senßo in Mr Cameron's ro» marks, but still he agreed with Mr Hessey that they should endeavor, to move forward a little; and endeavor to place debentures, Every year a considerable Bum was expended in re» pairing the old yards prior toeaoh show. This would go towards paying off the interest on debentures. ' Mr McGregor's motion was then put and carried, ACCOUNTS.
