ST. MATTHEW'S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Presentation to Mrs Paige. The teachers of .St. Matthew's Sunday School, and the scholars of Mrs Paige's class, met together- at " Oxford Houae" in company with the Rev. Mr and Mrs Paige, on Saturday evening last, upon the eye of the latler's departure for England. Mibb Grace Groves, ou behalf of the scholars of Mrs Faige's clasp, read an address prepared and signed by the scholars, which expressed their sorrow at losing so kind aud thought ful a teaoher as Mrs Paige had been, and that they were sure she should always live in their memory', and that they hoped that the Rev. and Mrs Paige would have a safe aud happy voyage Home. The address, which was then folded inside a beautifully finished lady's handbag, was presented to Mrs Paige. Mrs Paige thanked her lale scholars for their kind words aud good wishes,alßo for the little memento, which Bhe would keep and use in remembrance of her New Zealand scholars, and assured them that they one and all would never be forgotten "by her, though thousands of miles apart Mr R. Brown, Superintendent of the | school, on behalf of the teachers, then presented MraPaige with a beautifully illuminated, address, signed by the i teachers expressing the regret with which tbey parted foth one so well i beloved and highly respected, and i wishing her and the Rev. Mr Paige i a sate and enjoyable journey Home, : and that if they did not meet together again on earth they hoped to ■ all meet in a brighter and happier 1 land.
An enlarged photograph of the teachers was they presented to Mr and Mrs Paige, (he rev. gentleman in well-obosen words thanking his friends, for the kindness and good feeling scholars and teachers bad displayed to wards Mrs Paige and himself on the eve of their departure. It was probable that some one of those present might contemplate a trip to England, and an old New Zealand face would indeed be welcomed.' He once more thanked those present for the mementos so kindly given, which would be treasured by Mrs Paige and himself when many a mile from New Zealand, and Masterton, vthioh they undoubtedly felt to be (beir home.
