ACCIDENT AT CARTERTON
(From Our Own Correspondent,) Wednesday, Two rather' serious accidents occtured yesterday in this town. As Mrs Jan, Bonrd, of Greytown, was driving homewards from Masterton with her daughter and Miss Montgomery, on nearing Carierton 6ome children coming out of a gate caused their horse to take fright, and shying it suddenly swerved straight inlo a conveyance driven by Mr Bairstowe, who was passing, breaking the shafts and turning the trapolean over, Missj Beard sustained severe injuries,having bir left arm broken and being much out, The other occupants of the trap Mrs Beard and Miss Montgomery, ,iero also much shaken aod bruised. The ladiia were taken to the residence of Mr E Biuid, and proceed home to Greytown this morning.
Mr Jaa. Humphrey, of thiß town, had his collarbone broken yesierday afternoon. As he was leading his horse from a stable tbe animal backed and jrtmuied him against tho wall, inflicting the above-mentioned injury. I A strong south-westerly ga 1 blew [ horn yesterday. 1
