We believe the Parish meeting on' j Friday last to have been a mistake, at anyrate we know somo parishioners who did not attend it because they considered that it would have been in better taste to have waited.the few days which have to elapse before the: departure of Mr and Mrs Paigel before making certain arrangements which though necessary wore not urgent, The kindly feeling and respect of tbe community is unuiistakcably on the side of Mr and Mrs Paige, and many would have liked to have seen no discordant note struck'during the last lew hours of t heir sojourn amongst us. Maßterton.has beon fortunate for many jeais in having as residents a lady who, like Mrs Paige, has been an ideal clergyman's helpmate, and an incumbent like Mr Paige, of high and independent character, a man distinguished for scholarly attainments, and some people who ought to know, say also for unostentatious liherality to the poor. The Rev, Mr Paige has never courted the favour of the community andmajpossibly be unpopular in some quarters, He is not of that sweet treacly stuff of which pet parsons are made, but as time rolls on he will be remembered for his many high sterling qualities, and' sensible men arid women will realise that his departure was a loss to the community.
