OFFICIAL APPOINTMENTS.
\Golonel Eraser Sergeant-at-Arms. Dr Cahill Succeeds Or Henry. Mr Thomas Bracken Clerk of Blls.
Quite a batch of oioial appointmonts were made by. Ministers in Cabinet yesterday, Bays the N.Z. Timet.
It was decided to appoint Colonel Eraser, ex«M.H.R. for Te Aroha, to tbe position of Sergeant-at-Armß, juat vacated by the death of Lieut,Colonel de Quinoy, and to confer on Mr Thomas Bracken the appointment of Reader, and Clerk of Bills and Papers, which was resigned by Mr E. D. O'Eorko at the end of JDBt sesßioc,
It was blbo resolved to appoint Dr Cakill,' of Wellington to tbo office of Chief Medical Officer to the Go* vernment Insurance Department, which m raoant last week by the death of Dr Henry. Dr James was appointed advising medical officer to Captain Holliday. Health Officer at tbe Post of Wellington, and Dr Wilford' received the appointment of Vaccination Officer for tbe City o£ Wellington. These last two offices were previously held by tbe late Dr Henry. Colonel Eraser will enter upon his new position with a thorough know> ledge of tbe forma of tbe Eouße of Representatives. He has held a seat in that Chamber since 1881 and hie thus served through four Parliaments. _ MrThomas Brackenhas also served in Parliament, where some years ago he held one of the Dunedin City seals. His literary qualifications are wellknown throughout the Colony.
