"Your Committee in presenting I the annual report for their term of [ office just expiring, do so with a feeli ing of satisfaction, the operations for , the past year showing very good re- | suits. During the year extensive \ additions have been made to the | Main School, giving a new olass- . room which was very much needed, , and there is now also a very comfortable room for tbe useol teachers. As , usual the Town Lands Trustees have , been liberal to tbe school in making a i grant .in aid. Although this is less I than it was years ago, your Committee have succeeded in carrying on ' the financial business during the year without anxiety and of having a credit balance in hand. The compulsory clauses of the Education Act have been put in force during the year, your Committee regret having to be compelled to adopt this course for the purpose of making parents send their children to school, in face of the many advantages and facilities for getting a good education for their children. Your Committee, having exercised economical management in its affairs, considered it advisable to approach the Town Lands Trustees to gei. them to set aside an annual sura for a scholarship, irrespective of supplementing tbo Education Board scholarship. Your Committee liaye dono this, thinking that the timo has arrived when tho parents of childien attending the spbooj should have the opportunity of being Hbßisted in the education of their children out of the exceptionally handsome fund which the Town Land Trust provides, The rolls of tho two sohools show 590 and 103re8peetively and tbe average for ihe year has been fairly well maintained. Mr W, H. Jackson as Headmaster of the Main' School, and Miss Keeling of the Infant School, together with their respective stuffs still keep up the efficiency hitherto obtained, anddeserve the thanks of tbe parents for the excellence of their management."
