Mis and Finance, The Works and Finauoe Committee of 111© Masterlon Borough Cooncil met last evening. Present—Ora Heron, E. B. Chamberlain, Cullen, Hessey, and Mutrie. The Overseer's report waß received, and it was dcoided to recommend that tenders be called for widening the .Railway Road (Kuripuni) to close at next meeting.
The Gas Committee was appointed to enquire into the question of the extra labour employed at the Gas Workß,
The lolloping statement was made by the Treasurer :

The dr. balance to Library account showed a decrease on the previous jour of X2B 9s notwithstanding the increase in lighting account, Thegai supply accoibt cr. balance had an increase over laßt year of £8417s Bd, and the cash takings (or gas supplied iborred a steady increase month by month over the corresponding period last year. The interest acconntcr. balance km only £195 5s aR against £483 4s hit year, but this !b more than the fact that only one hiinSflra rate haß been levied for the year just ended. The iutorest due in April amounted to JE2Bs,which after crediting payments in, since 31st March, would leave about £7O to be inaßfegA from the gas supply sccounr^'
